THE DANDY WARHOLS
Civil Society is proud to announce the return of Portland’s iconic psychedelic rockers The Dandy Warhols as part of Parklife 2010, and their only Australian side show, at Wrest Point Entertainment Centre, Hobart. The tour coincides with the release of their retrospective album, The Capitol Years 1995-2007 (out June 25 through EMI).
The album celebrates the band’s years with the historic Capitol Records label, featuring fourteen of The Dandy Warhols most popular tunes. This is the Dandy Warhols’ first compilation release and highlights the influence the band has had, and continues to have, on modern music.
The band first garnered international attention with the world’s catchiest anti-heroin song, “Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth.”, off their second album (and Capitol debut), The Dandy Warhols Come Down, released in 1996. The album showcased lush, layered guitars, otherworldly Velvet Underground-inspired spaceouts and sing-along rock anthems that were sorely lacking from the day’s grunge rerun-saturated rock radio.
The band’s willingness to step out on a ledge whilst staying true to their signature pop hooks has made The Dandy Warhols a force to be reckoned with on the touring scene, maintaining a steadfast grip on music lovers the world over. Internationally renowned for their strength both sonically & visually when performing, the band have not only gained, but sustained, a reputation for sell-out shows across the globe.
The Dandy Warhols will bring their astounding show to all five Parklife 2010 festivals. Don’t miss your chance to experience one of the world’s most enduring and influential bands put on an unforgettable psych-out in some of Australia’s most picturesque city parklands, and their only Australian headline performance, September 30 in Hobart.
