CocoRosie (Brooklyn, NY)
Inertia’s touring division, Civil Society, presents an intimate performance from one of the most talked about duos to emerge in recent times and hear why comparisons to Billy Holiday, Bjork and Joanna Newsom come so close to the mark but fail to capture what makes the Casady sisters so compellingly unique.
Once disconnected, now inseparable - sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady grew up apart until fate brought them together again in 2003. Their mysterious and beautiful debut album ‘La Maison de Mon Reve’, recorded in a Parisian bedroom surfaced in early 2004 to universal acclaim. Since then CocoRosie have lived a nomadic existence, travelling the world with Bright Eyes, TV On The Radio, Devendra Banhart and Blonde Redhead.
Their densely textured, intricate sounds and their live blend of cabaret, spliced vocals, instruments and minimal, punctuating electronics have also seen them become Antony and the Johnsons support act of choice around the world. CocoRosie are supporting Antony and the Johnsons on their January Australian tour.
CocoRosie’s “Noah’s Ark” album is out now through Rogue Records/Inertia.

Press
"Bjork by way of Joanna Newsom… That said, CocoRosie sound, blissfully, like no one else…"
MOJO
"The sisters’ spooky voices… show an infatuation with Billie Holiday in her late, coming-apart phase… clattering ballads about the dark side of devotion."
